Radial Engineering Unveils Specialized Direct Boxes

By | Wed, 27 Oct 2004

Radial Engineering has unveiled a number of specialized direct boxes and other studio items. The J33 Phono Direct Box ($200) combines an RIAA turntable preamp with a direct box. The JDX Mic Combiner ~ Eliminator ($TBA) is a Class A direct box designed for use with electric guitars. The JDX connects between the guitar amp head and speaker cabinet to capture the sound of the amplifier. A 0 to 180-degree phase control lets you time-align the JDX with the guitar-amp microphone.

The ProDI ($99) is a passive direct box developed to let project studios enjoy the quality of a Radial direct box at a more affordable price. Phase accurate throughout the audio spectrum, according to the company, the ProDI features a linear custom-made transformer that can handle high levels without saturation.

Radial has also announced the Primacoustic Venice ($175 for a set of four) "easy-install" acoustic panels, which the company says are effective from 500 Hz up; and the Primacoustic IsoPad ($29) monitor isolators, ultra-high density foam isolation pads designed to eliminate mechanical coupling and resonance between a monitor and its stand.
