Studio Projects has unveiled the SP-828 ($799.99), an 8-channel mic preamplifier with a built-in 2-bus mixer. Up to four SP828s can be cascaded together using the Expansion Port.

Housed in a 1U chassis, the SP-828 features eight mic inputs and individual balanced outputs for each channel for interfacing with recorders. All inputs are also routed to bus and headphone outputs for monitoring during recording or for live-sound use. Front Panel controls for each channel include phantom power, phase reverse, a mic/line switch, input gain, level, pan, and solo, with LEDs for monitoring.
