gig-fx Announces the Chopper

By | Thu, 13 Oct 2011

gig-fx has announced the Chopper, a stereo modulation effects pedal for guitarists. According to the manufacturer, the Chopper offers stereo versions of classic effects, such as a rotating speaker, as well as unique sounds, such as the ambience of a delay without the repeated notes.

The Chopper works by using two independently adjustable oscillators. The square wave oscillator has an adjustable duty-cycle that produces a range of sound effects from on/off chops to echo-like repeats (although it does not repeat the notes). The second oscillator produces tremolo, a stereo auto-pan, and a stereo rotating cabinet emulation. The modulation rates can be pre-set or adjusted on the fly using the optically linked foot pedal, making it easy to hit a desired tempo.
