Zero G had released Sounds of Polynesia (Mac/Win; $219.95), a virtual instrument covering the sounds of the South Pacific, with Papua New Guinea getting the most attention. The collection includes over 1.3 GB of instruments, rhythms, vocals, and other indigenous samples from the islands of the South Pacific and Australia.

The instrument categories include Garamut, Manus, Pate, Pahu Mango, Pahu, Kundu, Tin Can, Bamboo Stomping Tubes, Kwakumba, Pan Pipes, Water Flutes, Voice Distorters, Split Cane, Bowed Harp, Susap, Conch Shells, Wooden Trumpets, Shakers, and Coconut Shells. Also included in the library are common instruments such as drum kit, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, Rhodes piano, and synths. A special version of Native Instruments Intakt sampler (Mac/Win), which can work as a plug-in or standalone player, is included. Intakt allows you to sync each loop to your host sequencer.

The Sounds of Polynesia supports VST, DXi, ASIO, RTAS, Audio Units, Core Audio, and DirectSound. For more information, visit www.soundsonline.com
