LinPlug
has announced SaxLab (Mac/Win), a VST/AU-format wind-instrument synthesizer
offering multi-sample playback and a 4-voice crossfade system capable of creating
realistic sounds. Other features include a wide range of presets, chorus and
reverb, and a host of real-time modulation options.
SaxLab is the successor to Dash Signature’s TubiLeSax VST instrument,
and it offers many new features and an improved sound engine. An upgrade path
from TubiLeSax to SaxLab will be available for registered TubiLeSax users.
SaxLab contains a variety of sound sets of various saxophone instruments and lets you mix three sound layers for each note: the "Air" layer, the "Keys" layer, and the "Pitched" layer. The Air/Keys and Pitched sound layer crossfade point is set by MIDI Velocity. The instrument also offers a user-definable Velocity-sensitive amplitude envelope, real-time controls over the instrument's brightness, three mono performance modes (Legato, Retrigger, Alternate), and control over random pitch deviation and body frequency deviation per note.
