Porcupine Tree's Massive - Anesthetize - Special Edition DVD out in April

By | Mon, 15 Mar 2010

Porcupine TreeThis April, Porcupine Tree will release their stunning special edition of 'Anesthetize,' the Lasse Hoile-directed concert film shot over two nights in Tilburg, The Netherlands, during their 2008 "Fear of a Blank Planet" tour.

The package will include a standard DVD and Blu-Ray disc of the shows, which feature a full performance of the album 'Fear of a Blank Planet' plus 11 other tracks, all mixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Also included are 2 CDs of the soundtrack, featuring one song not heard in the film. Reviewing an earlier show on the tour, The Boston Herald called it a "spine-tingling, mind-bending performance."

Continuing Porcupine Tree's tradition of exceptional packaging for their special editions, 'Anesthetize' will come housed in a cloth-bound hardcover book along with a 120-page book of photography from the 'Fear of a Blank Planet' tour (the book and the audio CD will not be included with the standard retail version of the DVD/Blu-Ray to be released in May).

Seattle Weekly's Jason Ferguson awarded high praise to Porcupine Tree's last special edition, the deluxe vinyl version of 'The Incident': "The stylish packaging of the Tonefloat-produced deluxe set is an incredible complement to the prog-rock tunes within. Too often, high-end limited vinyl packaging gets a little too full of itself, but the elegant simplicity of The Incident is well worth the price of admission."

Finally, Porcupine Tree have added four shows to their spring U.S, tour, following their first-ever Coachella performance, bringing the total number of shows in the U.S. this spring to fourteen. Porcupine Tree sold out their entire twelve-date fall 2009 North American tour, and will headline Radio City Music Hall on September 24th.
