MOTU, Inc. has announced the 896mk3 (Mac/Win; $1,295), a FireWire audio interface with onboard effects and mixing.

The 896mk3 features 8 XLR/TRS combo-style analog inputs with preamps, high-impedance guitar inputs, 28 inputs and 32 outputs, 192 kHz analog operation, signal overload protection, a 32-bit floating point DSP for digital mixing and effects processing, 2 banks of configurable optical I/O, and more.
