At the AES Convention, Digidesign previewed Pro Tools 8, including Pro Tools | HD, LE, and M-Powered. The music-creation and audio-production software has been updated with a new user interface, more than 70 plug-ins and virtual instruments, fully-integrated MIDI and score editors, and a larger palette of editing features.

The redesigned user interface features a fresh set of colors, higher-contrast text and graphics, dockable Editor windows, and a configurable Edit window toolbar, for easy navigation.

Pro Tools 8 also offers new music creation features; a large collection of music-creation and sound-processing plug-ins, including 20 AIR effects and 5 new virtual instruments; amplifier simulation; and a bundle of loops. In addition, the software features Elastic Pitch, which allows you to transpose music in real time in the Edit window; 10 inserts per channel; improved controller integration with Digidesign and M-Audio control surfaces; enhanced ICON integration for better speed and efficiency; and HD QuickTime support on Mac OS X.

Digidesign expects Pro Tools 8 to be available in late 2008. To learn more, visit digidesign.com.
