Focusrite has released the Saffire PRO 24 DSP, a 16 input, 8 output FireWire audio interface with Virtual Reference Monitoring (VRM) technology.

Focusrite's VRM technology provides multiple perspectives on a mix, making it possible for you hear a variety of studio monitors at various volume levels while using standard monitoring headphones. According to the manufacturer, Saffire PRO 24 DSP the only interface capable of simulating over 100 different monitoring scenarios.

The Saffire PRO 24 features the DSP-powered Focusrite Studio Suite, Compression, Gating, EQ and Reverb plug-ins in VST/AU format for use within DAW software. In addition, the audio interface has two Focusrite mic-preamps, two additional analog inputs, six analog outputs, ADAT inputs (for expanding the interface with, for example, Focusrite's OctoPre), stereo S/PDIF I/O and two virtual loopback inputs for routing digital audio between software applications. The front panel features 5-LED metering for each analog input, for accurate viewing of levels.

The unit comes with Saffire Mix Control and the Xcite+ bundle. Saffire Mix Control is 16 x 8 DSP Mixer/Router software that features output routing and monitoring, one-click set-up solutions and more. The Xcite+ bundle, on the other hand, includes Ableton Live 7 Lite, Novation Bass Station soft synth and over 1 GB of royalty-free samples from Loopmasters and Mike the Drummer.
