Noteflight, LLC has launched the 1.0 version of its online notation platform, bringing the platform's beta period to an end. The Noteflight 1.0 platform includes free access to the Noteflight.com Web site, along with a new subscription-based service called Noteflight Learning Edition.
Noteflight Learning Edition is a music notation tool based on the Noteflight Score Editor that allows you to create and share musical documents on the Internet. The 1.0 release provides numerous features, including MusicXML import, MIDI/audio file export, lyrics, dynamic markings, and automatically transposed parts. Similarly, the Score Editor now includes an updated approach to drag-and-drop editing, in which notes and passages can be rhythmically altered by simply dragging them sideways. According to the manufacturer, these additions strengthen the musical reach and power of the Score Editor, which remains available at no cost for individual, non-commercial use on Noteflight.com.
The Learning Edition gives music educators and students a way to share their Score Editor-created assignments and projects with others, as well as integrate it with online course management systems, such as Blackboard, Moodle, WebCT, and Haiku LMS. Students can access their resources and assignments from any Internet-enabled computer, and instructors can review and mark up work from anywhere.
