Ableton has announced Live 6 ($599 for boxed version; $499 for download version). Its many features include Quicktime video support, a professional multisample library, customizable instrument and effect racks, and multicore and multiprocessor support.

AKG Acoustics has introduced the Perception 400 multi-pattern, large diaphragm condenser microphone ($599.95). The Perception 400 has selectable cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 pickup patterns, switchable 10 dB pad, switchable bass cut filter, shock mount, and metal case.

Alesis has announced the Control Pad USB/MIDI Percussion Controller. The Control Pad has eight velocity-sensitive pads that can be assigned individual MIDI channels and note numbers, as well as inputs for connecting additional pads, pedal controllers, and an up/down footswitch.

Cakewalk has released Rapture Expansion Pack 1 and Dimension Pro Expansion Pack 1 as free downloads for registered Rapture and Dimension Pro customers. Each pack includes 350 new programs and hundreds of new samples and wavetables. Download them from Cakewalk's Web site.

Camel Audio has announced CamelSpace v. 1.3 and CamelPhat v. 3.3 as AU (in Universal Binary format) and VST plug-ins. The updates are free for registered users of CamelSpace and CamelPhat.
