Big Fish Audio has released Hip Hop Exotica ($99.95), a set of 55 construction kits that crosses hip hop with world music. Hip Hop Exotica has over three GB of content in AIFF, Apple Loops, REX, and WAV format.

Garritan Libraries has launched a free interactive online orchestration course based on Rimsky-Korsakov's Principles of Orchestration. This online course includes 275 animated scores in its 26 lessons, allowing participants to hear music as they follow a score. Online discussion forums supplement each lesson, providing participants with an opportunity to learn from orchestration experts and share work examples with others. MagicScore Music Software has announced MagicScore Maestro ($49.50; Windows) music notation software. MagicScore Maestro's features include extended editing capabilities, built-in playback, and the ability to read and write data to and from various formats.

NUSofting has released Version 1.5 of DK+ Virtual Drums for Windows VST ($48 full price; $14 to upgrade from Version 1.2 to 1.5). Upgrades are free for DK+ users who buy Funk Equipment Set One before June 30, 2006.

Ueberschall has announced Liquid Player 1.1.0.7, the new VST Engine for its Liquid Instrument Series (Intel Mac/Win) that features Liquid Sax, Liquid Bass, Liquid Guitars, and upcoming volumes such as The Voice 1/2 and Hornsection. Though Liquid Player 1.1.0.7 is designed for use with VST-, Audio Units- or RTAS-compatible host applications, it can also perform as stand alone application.
