Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York is set to kick off May 1 and go through May 31. The month-long series of live performances, club nights, lectures, art installations and more will feature innovative artists, unique venues and signature show concepts exploring today’s musical landscape while paying homage to its history. Just Blaze, Nelson George, Caroline Polachek (Chairlift), Dâm-Funk, Torn Hawk, Electro Guzzi, Nguzunguzu and Nick Hook are a few of the festival’s recent additions set to join previously announced performing artists D’Angelo, Panda Bear, Hudson Mohawke, David Byrne, Tim Hecker, Napalm Death, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), François K, Robert Henke, The Haxan Cloak, Gunplay & Wolf Eyes, among others.
The diverse musical showcase, which will become an annual New York City festival, is a legacy to the critically acclaimed Red Bull Music Academy that took place in New York in 2013. Throughout the month of May, the 15 public events will take place at locations as diverse as New York itself — from traditional music venues to cultural institutions to a restaurant-turned-nightclub to literally the streets of NYC.
