Synthogy has unveiled Ivory (Mac/Win), a virtual-instrument concert-grand piano collection produced by sound designer Joe Ierardi. Ivory features Synthogy’s 32-bit sample-playback and DSP engine and includes over 3,500 samples of a 9-foot German Steinway D, a Bosendorfer 290 Imperial, and a Yamaha C7. All 88 keys of each piano were individually sampled at up to eight dynamic levels, including the extended low octave on the Bosendorfer. Each of the three pianos can be installed independently to save space on crowded hard drives.

Synthogy’s Sympathetic String Resonance DSP provides damper-pedal response. The package also includes release and soft-pedal samples. Ivory also features digital effects such as Ambience, Chorus, and EQ, along with controls for Timbre, Stereo Width, Perspective, Velocity Response, Mechanical Key Noise, and Tuning. Each 32-bit sample features full sustain without looping, and Synthogy’s sample-interpolation technology allows for smooth velocity and note transitions. Ivory is available in Audio Unit, VST, and RTAS formats.

Synthogy is distributed by Ilio Entertainments. (http://www.ilio.com).
