TC Electronic Releases G-System Editor and Software 3.0

TC Electronic announces the release of the long awaited G-System Editor for Mac and PC, which allows for intuitive and real-time control of all functions in G-System, creation of new presets, and sharing presets with other G-System users. The Editor is compatible with Windows XP as well as OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and 10.5 (Leopard). G-System Software 3.0 enables use of the Editor and includes modulated delay, a new feature resulting from numerous customer requests. Users will also experience faster reacting expression pedals, faster attack at the compressor, the ability to assign a specific preset to a switch, improved MIDI clock and faster level shift between right and left channel. The Editor and Software 3.0 are relevant for all G-System users, and are downloadable free of charge at www.tcelectronic.com/GSystemSoftware.

The PC/Mac Editor makes it possible to control the G-System from a computer via USB cable. Edits made directly on the G-System will also appear in the Editor, which enables the user to save single presets and complete setups and to switch between those by means of the Editor. Consequently, presets and settings can be worked with directly in the Editor without connecting the G-System, and changes can be uploaded when convenient. New presets can be created from scratch in the editor and easily be shared with other users. A connected     G-System can also be used as a VST plug-in which makes it possible to record with the same sounds as used live.

G-System was the first product to combine over 25 top quality effects, loops and power supplies for analog pedals and relays for amp switching, all packed in a road ready housing. While the G-System in itself is a testimonial of TC quality and design, it is even more versatile with this new update.

Tore Lynggaard Mogensen, TC Electronic’s product manager for guitar effects, says: “The Editor has been the number one request from our users ever since G-System was announced, and I'm extremely happy to finally release this valuable tool. It has been a demanding project with a lot of challenges along the way, which pushed the release date far beyond what we were expecting, but I'm positive that our users will find it worth the wait”.

TC Electronic Announces Tap Factory Delay/Reverb Plug-In for PowerCore

Tap Factory includes a bonus LE version that enables the user to run multiple instances per DSP on current PowerCore systems, and supports discontinued PowerCore hardware. Tap Factory will ship end of March 2008 at a suggested retail price of $345.

Tap Factory is designed primarily for the user who is looking for delay effects beyond the usual vintage style which will help him create a unique sound that is all his own. The combination of delay effects and reverb effects generates an unusual set of parameters such as the 3-band parametric EQ with a diffuser capable of simulating the change in sound that occurs when a tap hits a metal or wooden wall. The new parameters inspire creativity, and offer a top-notch sound quality based on TC’s legendary delay and reverb algorithms. The intuitive user interface keeps the user on track when experimenting with the 24 taps and the more than 150 adjustable parameters, which are grouped into tabs in the central display section to provide a valuable overview even when digging deep into details. Furthermore a large selection of easily adjustable factory presets are provided to get users started right away.

Tap Factory offers nine seconds of delay time, three ways of working with tap tempo, and features a tap pad which can be used either for tapping the tempo or for tapping a specific rhythm into the plug-in. It is very easy to experiment with the many tweaking possibilities by using the crosshair and freehand drawing tools to manipulate different parameters, by randomizing settings to produce everything from subtle to extreme changes, or even using the panic button that quickly mutes the feedback that might occur from adventurous experimenting.

Tap Factory is the latest addition to the PowerCore platform consisting of a superior range of high-end plug-ins that run on tailor-made hardware. The platform integrates with virtually any VST, AU and RTAS based digital audio workstation for Mac or PC. TC Electronic Announces Nova System; All-in-one Floor-based Guitar Solution with analog programmable distortion and overdrive

TC Electronic announces Nova System, a new floor-based all-in-one guitar solution that uniquely combines world-class analog distortion and overdrive with the advantages of digital control. Loaded with top quality effects from TC’s renowned G-System, Nova System is the ideal all-in-one solution for any guitarist who wants setup simplicity without sacrificing tonal fidelity. Nova System ships in March 2008 at a suggested retail price of $995.

What makes Nova System so remarkable is NDTTM – Nova Drive Technology – an innovative drive and distortion circuit that offers true analog sound under preset and expression control. While the drive circuit  is 100% analog and physically separated from the digital effects, its controls are digital. This way the drive effects can be tweaked, stored and recalled in exactly the same way as any of the digital effects, and the amount of distortion can be controlled in real time by hooking up an expression pedal.

Nova System houses six high quality effects blocks taken straight from G-System. It features compression, EQ, Noise Gate, Modulation, Pitch, Delay and Reverb, all programmable and storable in 60 user presets. The 30 factory presets take advantage of the wide range of versatile effects combinations and are designed to get the guitar player started right out of the box.

The Nova System overdrive emulates the classic overdrive originally only found in tube amps. The range goes from slightly warm and subtle overdrive to high gain for screaming leads, but retains excellent chord clarity even with complex voicing. The Nova System distortion is fat and aggressive and allows for full and massive chords and fluent compressed leads. The tonal character is raw, crunchy and very tube-like. Using just the guitar volume will allow for anything from semi-clean chords to intense leads.

Completing the feature list, the Hi-Z and balanced input plus balanced stereo outputs, and the two footswitch layouts - preset and pedal - with an option for adding a G-Switch for further control, make Nova System the obvious floor-based solution for the serious guitar player.

TC Electronic Ships LM5 Loudness Radar Meter Plug-in for Pro Tools|HD

TC Electronic announces that the LM5 Loudness Radar Meter plug-in for ProTools|HD is now shipping. LM5 derives statistical information from the ITU-R BS.1770 standard to visualize instant loudness and loudness history, thereby helping engineers to realize the dynamic range at their disposal during production, and to predict the dynamic range restriction needed during distribution to various platforms. LM5 is suitable for use in broadcast, post production, film and music alike. A 10-day free demo license is available at http://www.tcelectronic.com/LM5Trial.asp. LM5 is available at a suggested retail price of $1245.

In a multi-platform world it is important that delivery criteria can be easily specified and met even by people not primarily concerned with audio. Some of the currently used principles lead to ambiguous level management and consequently, extra time spent on audio production and quality control. Compliant with ITU-R BS.1770, LM5 offers a standardized step forward. It can be used for precise real-time balancing and tight specification of any type of audio signal, and covers mono, stereo and 5.1 formats.

In the radar view, LM5 displays real-time loudness (LU or LFS) and true-peak level along with loudness history. The angular, color-coded display makes it easy for an editor to balance audio visually, and to see when level falls below or exceeds the end-listener’s dynamic range tolerance. The true-peak level display even warns the operator when excessive peaks are at the risk of creating distortion in downstream equipment such as data reduction codecs or DA converters. LM5 enables easy and predictable level management across distribution and broadcast platforms with or without the use of metadata. In either case, the meter can help improve speech intelligibility and reduce level jumps on all platforms from MobileTV to HDTV using AAC or Dolby AC3.

Years of research into loudness relating to any type of audio programming has brought TC Electronic to the forefront of performing real-time loudness measurement and control. TC Electronic has taken active part in loudness standardization efforts in Japan, the US, Europe and other areas, and several TC papers are available on the subject. Please refer to www.tcelectronic.com/TechLibrary for more details.
