"Down" actually turns out to be the best thing they've done in years and serves to signpost the band's subtle change in direction (for the better) towards new soul and funk, not Pharrell-style funk, but old school 70's funk." - Pop Matters

The Kooks have announced a string of tour dates this summer spanning North America. The band will be playing a handful of dates on the East Coast, as well as making appearances in Los Angeles and at summer festivals including Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. The tour goes on sale beginning May 9, and more dates will be announced in the coming weeks. For the band's full itinerary, please see below.

Recently, The Kooks debuted the new song "Around Town" live to television audiences on the UK's Alan Carr Show. It's a performance you have to see to believe, with the band's signature high-energy live show enhanced with innovative lighting to create a surreal mixture of black-and-white transitioning into color live as you watch. Check out the performance and dramatic visual effects here.

"Around Town" is the second single from eagerly anticipated new album Listen following the swaggering first single "Down."

"Around Town" is another shift away from classic Kooks into unchartered territory and was the first track written for the forthcoming album. The new music video for "Around Town" will be revealed soon.

Listen is out September 2nd via Astralwerks. Produced by young hip hop pioneer Inflo and Luke Pritchard, it showcases a new direction and sound for the multi platinum selling UK act.

"To me," Luke says, "this album is about pure expression. Even the way we made the album felt fresh. Rather than us just being a band in a room, playing our guitars with the vocal over the top, which is what we'd always done before, we were really listening to what was going on around us, picking up ideas. The whole thing was much more natural."

Listen is made up of 11 tracks (the Deluxe has 15), with highlights including the street-smart garage rock of "Bad Habit," the powerful and haunting "See Me Now," and the incandescent joy of "Are We Electric."
