Audio-Technica is offering people the chance to virtually rub shoulders with some of the most influential producers, designers and engineers in the music business through its first-ever “Ask Me Anything” Livestream event.

At this year’s AES Convention in New York City, industry experts will converge on the A-T booth to answer YOUR questions during 30-minute, Q&A style forums that will be broadcast live on this website as streaming events Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, 2013.

The audience – both at the conference and online – will have the opportunity to provide questions several ways during the session:

Joel Singer, GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer/mixer, Co-founder and chief engineer of Music Mix Mobile
As co-founder and chief engineer of Music Mix Mobile (M3), a mobile audio business that records and broadcasts remotely for clients all over the world, Joel Singer handles all systems designs and technical engineering for the company. In addition to studio facilities, M3 utilizes audio trucks to deliver their solutions throughout the country, and “flight packs” for destinations around the world that the trucks are unable to reach. The company counts numerous popular TV shows and networks, including 30 Rock, The Colbert Report, VH1 and MTV, among its clients, in addition to artists like Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi and Sting. M3 also coordinates the annual Grammy Award show broadcast – a live event that drew 28 million viewers this year.

Prior to starting Music Mix Mobile, as owner of OnSite Recording Services, Singer designed and operated the OSR Music Truck, which subsequently became the blueprint for many mid-size audio trucks throughout the country. Jackie Green, VP R&D/Engineering at Audio-Technica
Jacquelynn Green is Vice President of R&D/Engineering for Audio-Technica U.S., Inc.

Green started working for Audio-Technica U.S., Inc. in 1984 doing contract computer programming. She then joined Audio-Technica in 1986 as Product Manager, and was promoted to Vice President in 1992. She has had the opportunity to work on the concept, design, and production of many highly regarded products and technologies, holds patents for key digital and wireless work, and enjoys sharing knowledge and ideas as a presenter for numerous seminars, workshops and publications. Some of her recent topics have included Time Domain Testing of Microphones, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Microphone solutions and physics, as it relates to microphones. Green also participates as vice chair of the AES SC-04-04 working group on Microphone Measurement and Characterization.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sound Recording Technology from the State University of New York, Fredonia, N.Y. and a master’s degree in management from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.

Frank Filipetti, GRAMMY® Award-winning music producer, engineer & mixer
Grammy Award-winning producer, engineer and mixer Frank Filipetti has amassed quite an impressive client list over the years, working with artists like Foreigner, Madonna, Kiss, U2, Carly Simon, Korn, Elton John, James Taylor and Rod Stewart – to name just a few. In addition to his work with commercial artists, Filipetti also specializes in mixing and producing Broadway musicals and soundtracks, which have included Wicked, Spamalot and Aida. He is known by his peers as an independent thinker, and one of the first engineers to explore the potentials of digital audio. Additionally, as one of the founding members of The Music, Engineering and Technology Alliance (METAlliance), Filipetti works within a collaborative community to ensure the highest standards of audio production.

He currently runs his own studio in West Nyack, NY, The Living Room, where he continues to work with some of the best talent in the industry.

Richie Castellano, Musician & YouTube sensation
A fifth-generation musician hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Richie Castellano is widely known for his involvement with the legendary rock band Blue Oyster Cult – he began as their bass player in 2000, and has since moved to playing guitar and keyboards, continually proving himself a multi-talented member of the group. Castellano has also shared the stage with members of Black Sabbath, Yes, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Journey and Queen over the course of his career.

In addition to being a talented musician, he is a singer, songwriter and producer who has won several awards, including the Bertelsmann World of Expression award and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame writing competition. He recently completed his fourth CD of original music entitled MorningStarlett.

Fans may also recognize Castellano from his popular YouTube videos where he re-creates classic songs like Bohemian Rhapsody and Golden Slumbers in split-screen format, playing and singing all of the parts himself. Richard Chycki, Mixer, Engineer & Producer
Toronto-based mixer, engineer & producer Richard Chycki is well known in the business for his pioneering mix work in 5.1 surround. While his client list is heavily rock-based, including Rush, Aerosmith, Dream Theater, Mick Jagger, Def Leppard, Skillet, Pink and Our Lady Peace, Chycki also counts rap/R&B star P. Diddy among his clientele. Chycki enjoys working across genres, saying, “I’m a music fan, first and foremost. I have to be drawn to the personae, the songs, the sound and the excitement. Good music is good music, regardless of genre.”

Chycki began his engineering journey as a guitar player, working in studios in Toronto, Canada. He relocated to Los Angeles, recording and mixing in some of the world’s finest studios like Ocean Way, Henson, Capitol and The Record Plant. While he uses Toronto as his home base, Chycki’s client list centers mainly in the U.S. and Europe.

In addition to his technical skills, Chycki’s humorous studio manner and iconoclastic approach to album-making scores strong support from the artists he works with. Carl Tatz, TEC Award-nominated recording studio designer
Carl Tatz is the award-winning studio designer and principal of Nashville-based Carl Tatz Design. Drawing upon his 30 years of experience as a Grammy nominated engineer/producer, award-winning commercial studio owner (Recording Arts) and TEC Award nominee, he has shared his unique acoustic approach in lectures and on panels at such esteemed venues as Berklee College of Music, SAE, the Art Institutes, Mix Nashville and AES events. Frank Wells, President of AES
As President of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Frank Wells has the distinct privilege of heading the world’s only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. With 14,000 members in countries all over the world, AES unites audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students in its quest to promote advances in audio and disseminate new knowledge and research within the industry. In addition to his current position on the Executive Committee, Wells has been an AES member since 1992 and has held positions on numerous boards within the organization.

In his professional life, Wells serves in editorial positions on two highly-regarded industry publications – Pro Audio Review, the only American audio magazine to focus exclusively on the evaluation of professional-grade studio and sound reinforcement products, and Pro Sound News a monthly news journal dedicated to the business of the professional audio industry.

Jimmy Douglass, GRAMMY® Award-winning recording engineer/record producer
Jimmy Douglass (also known as The Senator) is a four-time Grammy-winning recording engineer and record producer, whose prolific career has spanned more than four decades. Douglass is best known for bringing unconventional techniques into the studio and encouraging artists to transcend genre restrictions. Fittingly, his long list of collaborations boasts artists from various genres, including Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Timbaland, John Legend and Rob Thomas.
