Edirol Announces PCR-1

By | Fri, 23 Jan 2004

Edirol announced the PCR-1 (Mac/Win), which combines a USB-powered 24-bit, 96 kHz audio interface with a 25-key MIDI keyboard controller. The low-profile PCR-1 is a mere 1 3/16-inches thick and weighs less than 3 lb. The keyboard features Edirol's S.L.I.M. (Short-stroke Low-profile Impact Mechanism) technology, which allows a compact MIDI keyboard to maintain reasonable playability.

The MIDI keyboard controller offers full 128-step velocity sensitivity and the same control-map support as the larger PCR instruments. The assignable controls can send any MIDI message, and the device offers 16 onboard memory locations for saving control maps for your favorite software applications.

The audio features include stereo analog I/O on RCA jacks and a stereo 1/8-inch headphone connection which doubles as an optical S/PDIF port. The PCR-1 offers support for WDM, ASIO, and CoreAudio drivers.

Edirol also announced the FA-101 (Mac/Win), a 10 input/10 output FireWire bus-powered audio interface. The FA-101 includes two mic preamps with phantom power, six balanced 1/4-inch inputs, and eight balanced 1/4-inch outputs. The 1/2U device has front-panel optical S/PDIF I/O and rear-panel MIDI I/O.

The FA-101 has 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution and supports ASIO 2.0, WDM, and CoreAudio. The FA-101 can also be powered by the included DC adapter.
