Image Line Software has released its new Sawer (Mac/Win; $79) synthesizer plug-in. Using filters modeled on the 1980s analog synthesizer, Polivoks, Sawer is said to produce a punchy sound with precise articulation.

The plug-in features flexible modulation routing; an Envelope and LFO source that can be used to control destination controls; a MIDI Modulation Matrix that can route MIDI controllers to most targets in Sawer; and chorus, phaser, delay, and reverb effects.

Additional features include a main oscillator for subtractive synthesis; a sub oscillator (-2 to +2 octaves) with level, phase, and detune controls; a noise oscillator; variable polyphony (1 to 24 voices); 8-voice unison with user-adjustable stereo panning, detune, and "Octaver"; sync and ring frequency modulation; 2 ADSR envelope generators; 4 filter modes; and a multimode arpeggiator.

Sawer is available in FL Studio, AU, and VSTi formats (Mac/Win), and as a standalone. The introductory price of $79 is effective through the end of March, 2009; however, after this date, the plug-in will be sold at the regular price of $99.
