Native Instruments Introduces HELIOS RAY
Mon,18 Mar 2013
Native Instruments today released HELIOS RAY – a new MASCHINE Expansion providing sounds and beats drawing from London’s
broken beat scene and LA’s abstract beat producers. Containing three separate styles of drum kits as well as unique Melodic Kits and new MASSIVE presets, HELIOS RAY is out now for MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO, with a compact version for iMASCHINE also now available as an inapp purchase via the Apple App Store.
HELIOS RAY contains three distinct styles of drum kits – Vinyl, Digital and Analog. The Vinyl Kits provide a wealth of vinyl kicks, finger snaps, shakers, vocal samples, claps, snares, crackle, record stops and more – representing the loose, off-kilter hip-hop of LA’s abstract beat scene. The Digital Kits feature Brazilian and Latin percussion such as shakers, bongos and congas, and smooth, warm basses ideal for producers working in a nu jazz and broken beat style. The Analog Kits contain gritty drums and percussion provided by classic hardware units. All included drum kits also feature pre-programmed patterns for each kit, providing producers with an inspiring platform from which to improvise.
10 Melodic Kits complement the drum kits, and include a jazz guitar exclusively recorded at Bell Studios in LA – providing instant atmospheric chords, one shots and licks. A vintage Rhodes piano is also featured, set to trigger in choke mode for jamming jazzy melodic flourishes and soulful stabs.
HELIOS RAY also incorporates new MASSIVE presets tailored to its aesthetic. Modulated, filtered, and funky sawtooth basses, ambient pads, skewed polysynth leads and eclectic sound effects capture the vibe of influential, forward-thinking leftfield producers.
Pricing and availability
HELIOS RAY is available at the NI Online Shop for $49 / 49 €.
A compact version of HELIOS RAY is also available for iMASCHINE – the groove sketchpad for iPhone / iPod touch.
The iMASCHINE version is available at the in-app store for $0.99 / 0,89 €.
