Native Instruments has released North India ($79), the first installment of Discovery-series Kore SoundPacks. This sound library makes the tones of classical North Indian music available for use with Kore 2 and the free Kore Player.

The 3 GB SoundPack includes the sitar and tabla, which are important to Hindustani music, as well as other North Indian instruments, such as the tanpura, bansuri, harmonium and shehnai. All of the melodic instruments may be played in the North Indian modal and microtonal context, as well as in a chromatic fashion, and they all feature implementations of diverse glissandi and ornamentation. For additional sound processing, North India also includes synthetic drones and melodic sounds that use the Reaktor and Guitar Rig engines integrated into Kore 2 and Kore Player.
