Applied Acoustics Systems has released Ultra Analog Session (Mac/Win; $99), a virtual instrument based on the synth engine of the Ultra Analog VA-1. It runs as a standalone application and supports DXi, VST, AU, and RTAS plug-in formats.

Audio-Technica has launched the "40 Series: Unmasked" interactive online demo, which allows you to access technical specifications while auditioning Audio Technica's 40 Series side-address condenser microphones.

Digidesign has shipped Pro Tools HD 7.2 software (Mac/Win; $199; download version: $175). The update includes an enhanced automation package, extended video capabilities, and built-in dubber/stem recorder functionality. It also comes with the new SignalTools suite.

iZotope has released a new version of its free record player simulator, Vinyl. The updated version includes Universal Binary format for Intel Macs, X64 support for 64-bit host applications under Windows, and Pro Tools 7 support. Download Vinyl for free at iZotope's Web site.

M-Audio has announced a new firmware update for the MicroTrack 24/96, available on M-Audio's Web site. PC users can get the update here, and Mac users can get it here.
