X-Edit 2.2

I tested the X-Edit 2.2 editor-librarian on my Mac Pro, and I was very impressed. I''m a big fan of computer editors for hardware, and X-Edit 2.2 is very well organized. Effects blocks are graphically represented in order within the signal chain, and the Tone Library and the Effects Library are easily accessible. X-Edit allows you to intuitively load and save presets and MIDI configurations for parameter control. Unfortunately, you can''t adjust the GSP1101''s global settings with the software editor, but that''s a minor gripe.

The 4-Cable Method

If you have either a guitar preamp or an amplifier that has an effects loop, the 4-cable method lets you use a single guitar processor the same way you would use a bunch of stompboxes and effects processors. To set up the GSP1101 for the 4-cable method, first plug your guitar into the front-panel input. Next, connect the send from the GSP1101''s rear panel (labeled To Amp Input) to your guitar amplifier''s input. Then connect the send from your guitar amp''s effects loop to the GSP1101''s return (labeled From Amp Send). Finally, plug the GSP1101''s line output (labeled To Amp Return) into your guitar amp''s effects-loop return. This way, your dynamics and distortion effects will be upstream of your guitar amp, and the modulation and time-based effects will be in your amp''s effects loop.
