SAE
Institute, the world leader in audio and multimedia education, today
announces that it will open its newest campus in the U.S. in San Francisco,
CA. This new facility, which will be located in the heart of the city's
famous SOMA neighborhood, will mark the sixth SAE campus in the U.S.
SAE San Francisco is scheduled to open in Q1 2009.
SAE San Francisco will enjoy the same kind of state-of-the-art
facilities and technologies from which all SAE locations benefit. The
design of the two-story, 13,200-square-foot main campus calls for eight
control rooms fitted with industry-standard audio consoles and outboard
equipment, both analog and digital, connected to four acoustically accurate
recording studios. In addition, there will be a dedicated audio post
production studio with full 5.1 surround sound recording, editing and
mixing capability, and a full-scale Foley pit for sound effects instruction.
The initial class, an intentionally small group of students,
will be able to take SAE's famous Audio Technology Program (Diploma),
which features curriculum designed to enable students to develop their
interests in audio while building their knowledge and skill; furthermore,
by Q2 2009 the San Francisco campus will add SAE's well-regarded
Games Programming Diploma program and its groundbreaking Electronic
Music Production Certificate program. As it has with its other campuses
in the U.S. and around the world, SAE San Francisco is intentionally
adapted to the local media culture. For instance, the Audio Technology
Program (Diploma) will have a special emphasis on game audio, reflecting
the significant presence of major game development companies in the
Bay Area. "San Francisco is close to Silicon Valley, and has a
history of filtering its creative efforts through high technology,"
observes Einar Johnson, Director of SAE San Francisco. "That's
something we intend to acknowledge in how we integrate ourselves into
the media community here. San Francisco also has a great live music
scene, and that's something we intend to support as well."
Stated Dr. Tom Misner, President, Founder and CEO of SAE Institute,
"SAE San Francisco represents a landmark in the history of SAE
Institute. As our sixth campus location in the U.S. and a key member
of the SAE global community, it underscores our ongoing commitment to
bring the best in media arts and sciences education to the world."
