A famous speech clip is fractured and harmonized using five Discord 2 presets.

I combined African drums, Celtic fiddle, and Middle Eastern strings to create this example of Ethno World 3 Complete's loops and phrases.

For this clip, I opened four instances of SwarPlug and used Swar Librarian to find three traditional 14-bar patterns. I dragged those patterns to my sequencer tracks and then improvised a fourth part. The result is quasi-Indian music that's anything but traditional.

In this example, I changed Darbuka patterns in every measure by playing successive notes on my MIDI keyboard. After ascending from C0 to B1, I slowly brought down the Complexity slider, gradually simplifying the rhythm until the final beat.

After a Brief Delay

This patch uses the default preset on Reason SubTractor. The output is split and sent to two delay lines. The one on the left is set to three 16th-notes and the one on the right to four 16th-notes. The dry SubTractor sound goes direct to the mixer, but each delay output (wet only) is sent through a parametric EQ to emphasize certain frequencies. In the second phrase, a separate phaser is patched into each EQ output, further coloring the echoes.

This simple patch, again using the default SubTractor preset, shows the difference between putting a delay line before the distortion (first phrase) and after the distortion (second phrase). Note the extra roughness in the pitchbends when the delay is pre-distortion.

This patch is a bit more complicated. The two main delay lines are fed by aux sends on the mixer. The input to the sends comes from the slap sound in the REX file loop. (The Redrum loop is purely to reinforce the meter, and is unprocessed.)    The ringing tone heard in bars 5 through 12 is produced by sending the slap through a delay line set to two 16th-notes. This delay has some feedback. Its output feeds a Unison (chorus) unit and a Scream distortion, which spread the slap. The signal then enters another delay line set to 4 ms with very high feedback, which creates the ringing.    The distorted tone heard in bars 9 through 16 is, again, the slap sound, this time passing through a delay set to two 16ths but with no feedback. In bars 9 through 12 the slap proceeds directly to a Scream distortion unit, causing a short burst of distortion. In bars 13 through 16 a reverb with a short decay is added before the distortion.

Web Clip 1:
This clip was made with two Musicrow synths, Trancoid and Blue Crow. The gated loop generated by Trancoid is first heard unprocessed, then processed with several Vocal Modeler presets. Space-Boy is used as a send effect on the Trancoid track. The Blue Crow pad was processed by Ultra Chorus and GrainD Lay.
