Location Sound’s "Most Awesome 50 Days of Audio Gear Giveaways Ever" proved to be a home run for the pro audio dealer

North Hollywood, CA (October 2, 2013) – Location Sound’s Most Awesome 50 Days of Audio Gear Giveaways Ever has made a lot of sound professionals very happy, but all good things must come to an end. The prizes included a large array of high-quality audio gear from renowned manufacturers such as Sound Devices, Lectrosonics, Sanken, Denecke, and many more.

“It was well worth playing, that’s for sure,” says Brent LeStage, the Grand Prize winner. LeStage won a 664 Field Production Mixer by Sound Devices valued at $4600 on the last day of the giveaway. He entered the giveaway faithfully almost every day of the 50 days. “I was really struck by the quality of merchandise they were giving away. That’s what motivated me to enter as frequently as I did. The 664 Field Production Mixer is top of the line.”

LeStage is a professional sound mixer who is working on a variety of film, television, and corporate video projects. Though he lives and works on the East Coast, he started ordering gear from Location Sound over the last year. “They make it so easy and convenient,” he praises. He orders most of his gear on www.locationsound.com or by calling their knowledgeable team. “They ship it to me overnight. They stock everything they sell, so it’s easy to get merchandise from them immediately, in spite of being on the other side of the country.”

Bob Dreebin, another winner, won the Audio-Technica BP-4073 shotgun microphone. “You’ve got to be dedicated! When someone told me there is a 50-day giveaway at Location Sound, it immediately became a daily 5 AM routine for me to go to my computer and do my entries and my tweets. They gave away prizes ranging from $200 to $4,600, including a set Lectrosonics transmitter-receiver wireless unit, so I could tell that Location Sound had done an amazing job working with the various manufacturers to offer such a wide array of gifts. I was happy to win anything; I wasn’t after a particular item. The whole experience was a lot of fun!” The Audio-Technica microphone complements his collection of microphones very well, and he’ll use it for future projects.

Dreebin has worked as a motion picture sound recording engineer for over 30 years. A Hollywood native, he moved to Arizona 35 years ago and has been commuting to Los Angeles for all of his projects. He specializes in television commercials and has done the sound for Dodge, Chevy, Jello, and Visa commercials. “Commercials are great,” he says, “They range anywhere from one day to six or seven days in length, they are always with a different crew, always in a different place. Always different professional challenges.”

Dreebin owns most of his own gear, and he admits it’s an expensive business: “A lot of expense to purchase the gear, to maintain it and repair it, and a lot of expense in turn-over of gear. That’s why winning a piece of gear is so great for sound mixers.” He has used Location Sound as his source for equipment, advice, and rentals during his entire career. He likes the fact that Location Sound is employee-owned because he feels that everyone at LSC is dedicated to the success of their customers. “Location Sound is a great, great business. Everybody there is very friendly, and they really care about what they are doing. It’s unlike any other store.”

Location Sound’s giveaway planning was months in the making. Angelica Dewlow, Location Sound’s Marketing Director said, “Before relaunching our website, I asked our team what we could do to entice customers to visit our new site. ‘How about a raffle?’, suggested Michael Paul, our Technical Director. From that point on, Steve Joachim, our Sales Manager started calling on all the manufacturers he could think of. They came through in an amount of over $29,000! It was such an incredible bounty that I had no other choice but to call the giveaway what it was, the Most Awesome 50 Days of Audio Gear Giveaways Ever!”

From the company’s point of view, the website relaunch and giveaway was a huge success. Location Sound’s average monthly website traffic is up 67%, with online sales already surpassing 2012’s numbers. Angelica Dewlow said, “Since we’ve never done a giveaway before, we didn’t know what to expect. We certainly didn’t expect that many entries! It was also gratifying to see customers sharing their excitement over the giveaway on social media. This was definitely a fun way to let everyone in the industry know about our new website. We're glad to be our customers' first choice and meet their professional audio needs.”
