has made a lot of sound professionals very happy, but all good things must come to an end. The prizes included a large array of high-quality audio gear from renowned manufacturers such as Sound Devices, Lectrosonics, Sanken, Denecke, and many more.
“It was well worth playing, that’s for sure,” says Brent LeStage, the Grand Prize winner. LeStage won a 664 Field Production Mixer by Sound Devices valued at $4600 on the last day of the giveaway. He entered the giveaway faithfully almost every day of the 50 days. “I was really struck by the quality of merchandise they were giving away. That’s what motivated me to enter as frequently as I did. The 664 Field Production Mixer is top of the line.”
LeStage is a professional sound mixer who is working on a variety of film, television, and corporate video projects. Though he lives and works on the East Coast, he started ordering gear from Location Sound over the last year. “They make it so easy and convenient,” he praises. Dreebin has worked as a motion picture sound recording engineer for over 30 years. A Hollywood native, he moved to Arizona 35 years ago and has been commuting to Los Angeles for all of his projects. He specializes in television commercials and has done the sound for Dodge, Chevy, Jello, and Visa commercials. “Commercials are great,” he says, “They range anywhere from one day to six or seven days in length, they are always with a different crew, always in a different place. Always different professional challenges.”
Dreebin owns most of his own gear, and he admits it’s an expensive business: “A lot of expense to purchase the gear, to maintain it and repair it, and a lot of expense in turn-over of gear.
