In anticipation of the band's debut record, It'll Be Better (Cantora Records, July 20th), Francis and the Lights have released the world's first HTML5 embeddable album, specifically designed for the iPad and the brand new iOS4. Developed exclusively by Muxtape's Justin Ouellette, fans can stream the record, watch the video for "Darling, It's Alright", and download tracks directly from iTunes - using nothing more than fingertips to experience the content. The HTML5 album can also be embedded and streamed anywhere on the web. It's all free and seamless, simply by visiting www.itllbebetter.com.
Along with their debut album, Franics and the Lights have also written and produced a song for Drake's recently released debut, Thank Me Later, titled Karaoke. Drake personally requested a beat, and being a true fan, Francis decided to make use of a special song he had been saving. Francis recorded and arranged it in one night and sent it over with the message, "do whatever is best for the song." Drake brilliantly re-worked the lyrics, making it deeply personal and added a rap verse. The song was cut and mixed by 40, Drake's engineer, in Jamaica the following day.
The band is currently taking a short break after a two month long tour with Drake before heading back out to support the psych-pop duo, MGMT. The string of dates starting July 15th will see the band travel up the west coast from San Diego to Vancouver. The tour will end in New York City at Radio City Music Hall.
