Original Score by Giorgio Moroder and Raney Shockne with featured remixes by RUSKO and Bibio
Sumthing Else Music Works, the award-winning record label dedicated to video game soundtracks, in partnership with Disney, today announced plans to release the “TRON Run/r Original Soundtrack,” featuring the original score by Giorgio Moroder and co-composer Raney Shockne, coupled with a sonically arresting roster of contemporary artist remixes of the score, created for the game in homage to the godfather of Electronic Music. The “TRON RUN/r Original Soundtrack” will be available for streaming and digital download on May 31. TRON Run/r is out now on PS4, XBOX One, and Steam.
The soundtrack shapes the return to the world of TRON with TRON RUN/r, a lightning fast, action-adventure runner with a twist. Players blaze through dynamic circuits, facing-off against virulent adversaries while taking on all challengers. Programs can pack loadouts with dozens of combinations of cycles, suits and powerups. Fans will hone DISC and CYCLE skills on the 32 included levels, then challenge friends to the grueling STREAM program that throws endless combinations of modes and levels.
The game’s soundtrack features new music from Giorgio Moroder and Raney Shockne, and remixes by Autechre, Bibio, Darkstar, patten, Plaid and Rusko who add their own flourishes to Moroder’s music and power you through a shattering TRON universe.
“TRON scans several decades of really innovative music, whether it’s Wendy Carlos in the first film or Daft Punk. So we wanted an artist who could really span those generations in a legitimate way,” said, Christopher Nicholls, Executive Producer. “If you go back to the sound of original electro disco in the ‘70s, Giorgio is right at the heart of it. He’s been pushing electronic music his whole career. We wanted to nod to the first film as well as the later incarnations of the series.”
Jane Eastlight, the cutting edge London based abstract interactive artist, was inspired by the mood of the game’s strong visual aesthetics and designed an original album cover using selected images and game art for the release. 'The game design conveyed an incredible sense of dynamism and kinetic intensity which was really inspiring for the artwork and it was super exciting to create something new to extend the world of Tron Run/r even further. My approach was to produce a set of imagery where light, architecture, speed, sound and space felt like one traversable hybrid object - very much like the hypnotic swirl of the game.' – Jane Eastlight, 555-5555 Studios.
