Wondaland Records and Epic Records are proud to officially announce the dates for what’s bound to be one of summer’s hottest tours, Janelle Monáe and Wondaland Records Present The Eephus Tour Powered by Toyota.
Launching August 12 in Philadelphia, PA, the tour consists of eight secret free shows throughout the country, culminating in a homecoming show in Atlanta, GA on August 31.
Admission to these exclusive, invite-only performances will be free; fans can sign up for their chance to experience The Eephus Tour, featuring performances by modern icon and Wondaland Records founder Janelle Monáe and every act on the label's roster. They also may enter to win tickets and enter The Eephus Tour Powered by Toyota sweepstakes for a chance to win a pair of tickets and a VIP Meet & Greet with Wondaland. Winners to the free shows will be notified via email 24-hours prior to the show date to redeem their chance to experience Wondaland in each market.
Janelle Monáe's dynamic stage presence and powerful vocals are renowned; now fans will have the chance to see her surrounded by the talented members of the Wondaland Records family. Singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Roman GianArthur will deliver incendiary guitar fireworks along with his signature soulful, striking vocals. Deep Cotton— Chuck Lightning and Nate “Rocket” Wonder— bring a singular brand of funk that incorporates just the right amount of rock ‘n’ roll and hip-hop. You may have heard their cult hit "We're Far Enough From Heaven Now We Can Freak Out" in a Sonos commercial, and they're prepared to turn the vibe up at every show.
The ladies of St. Beauty will cast an enchantment over the crowd as their mellifluous, bittersweet vocals fill the room. Comprised of Alex Belle and Isis Valentino, the duo bring talent and creativity to spare to the stage.
Lastly, you’ll get the opportunity to see rap’s most refined gentleman, Jidenna— who just achieved his first #1 at rhythm radio with the smash “Classic Man” [feat . Roman GianArthur] and just debuted the "Classic Man" remix featuring the King of California himself, Kendrick Lamar. Watch the video:
In four of the cities (New York, NY, Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and Atlanta, GA) there will be on-the-ground experiential activations with a drive-in movie theme, where fans can win tickets and listen to songs from the new EP, while inside the 2015 Toyota Camry. At each stop, vehicles will be displayed along with a large jumbotron streaming Wondaland videos.
Just days after the tour begins, the first official Wondaland Records compilation EP, Wondaland Presents THE EEPHUS, will be available at iTunes and all digital retailers on August 14.
Pre-order the compilation EP on iTunes, Amazon, Amazon MP3 and Rdio. “Classic Man” laid the groundwork for its release, and anticipation is mounting as each roster act gets the spotlight throughout the collection. The EP also features Monáe’s single “Yoga” [feat . Jidenna]. It’s another unshakable and undeniable gem from the Wondaland collective that’s as classy and clever as it is catchy.
