The London Sessions, Mary J. Blige’s 13th studio album, was released today by Capitol Records. Blige’s series of national television appearances continues with a visit to “The Wendy Williams Show” today. She will also appear on “A Very GRAMMY Christmas,” a one-hour entertainment special airing on CBS on Friday, December 5. Last night Blige performed “Therapy,” one of four songs she co-wrote with Sam Smith for The London Sessions, on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” She has also appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and the American Music Awards telecast.

Blige traveled abroad to record The London Sessions, which includes collaborations with some of today’s most celebrated U.K. musical talent, including Disclosure, Eg White, Emile Sandé, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy, SAM ROMANS and Sam Smith. The entire album was born in a whirlwind 20 days – 10 days writing and 10 days recording.

Entertainment Weekly noted, “the result is less a reinvention of Blige’s hip-hop-soul sound than a mutation of the dormant disco-diva gene in her DNA…Her big, emotive voice jells on both the thumping Disclosure reunion ‘Right Now’ and ‘Therapy,’ a harmonious matchup with professed admirer Sam Smith.” “Vocally, Blige has never sounded better,” said SPIN while Complex observed, “Mary once again proves why she is a legend in the game.” In the U.K., The Observer called The London Sessions “the most innovative album of her 22 year career” while The Independent hailed Blige as the “most important soul singer of our time…the 21st century Aretha Franklin.”

With a track record of eight multi-platinum albums, nine GRAMMY Awards (and a staggering 31 nominations), a 2012 Golden Globe nomination and four American Music Awards, Blige is a global superstar. Over the years, the singer/songwriter has attracted an intensely loyal fan base – responsible for propelling worldwide sales of more than 50 million albums.
