Referred to by The Glitch Mob as the fourth member of the group, live setup “The Blade” has been on tour with them since the beginning of 2014. "The Blade" fuses dystopian futuristic design with state-of-the-art custom control software to create a digital live performance system that is as functional and it is mesmerizing, and this documentary, which has been almost two years in the making, will finally shed some light on how it all works and how the project came to fruition.

“We want to play electronic music with the same feel and drama of live rock,” says The Glitch Mob. “It’s always been our goal to break down the wall around electronic music performance and create something more engaging than staring at a laptop.”
To bring their live shows to life, the trio enlisted Matt Davis and his team of music tech masterminds, roboticists, and hackers at Name the Machine to create an innovative and completely unique performance technology platform. By taking advantage of the latest advancements in computing power and cutting-edge, customizable music software, their live performance changes the game for how all electronic music is performed live.
Augmenting the tech wizardry, their stage and visual production was designed by the visionary Martin Phillips and his team at Bionic League (whose work includes live performance experience design for Daft Punk, Kaskade, NIN, deadmau5, Kanye West, and more). The Blade was named one of the '50 Best Things' witnessed by
Rolling Stone at Coachella, calling to attention their "dayglow synths," "relentless beat barrages," and "face melting, arena-ready visuals."

"[The Blade] resembles a futuristic machine of violent design, with which they pair custom software that allows them to switch live roles on the fly,
like a traditional rock band that—instead of swapping solos—can trade off entire instruments mid-song."
“With a battery of touchscreens and drum triggers, The Glitch Mob dropped what was the most impressive set of electronica on the festival,
which is saying a lot on a bill that features some of the biggest DJs in the world.”
"Sonically complex beatscapes with a heavy dose of aggression, reflecting the group's influences of Portishead, Nine
Inch Nails and Tool, but still wholly its own."
"The Glitch Mob's new album, "Love Death Immortality," is so robust and dynamic that it deserves a subgenre tag all
its own. How about "rock-and-roll?"
-The Washington Post
"The Glitch Mob take EDM/rock fusion further than anyone...monumentally scaled and monumentally gleaming."
