The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam

Today Marks The Anniversary Of Widely Praised Album’s Release

The latest visual from Thundercat’s The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam (Brainfeeder) premiered today, on the anniversary of the widely praised mini-album’s 2015 release. The animated video for “Song for The Dead” was created by Australian visual artist Ry No, and premiered today on Adult Swim’s Facebook page. The video can be seen now via Adult Swim & YouTube, and on air this Saturday night.

Thundercat heads back on tour next month, and dates include three shows with his massively influential Los Angeles record label Brainfeeder—two at Oakland, CA’s Fox Theatre (September 15 & 16) and one at Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl (September 17). Label head Flying Lotus has also invited The Gaslamp Killer to join the stage with Shabazz Palaces and Funkadelic featuring George Clinton and Parliament. The nights will see unique collaborations including a special performance by WOKE, and special visuals by artists Strangeloop and Timeboy will accompany the performances. Ticket for the Oakland shows are available here and the Hollywood Bowl here.

THUNDERCAT is the alter ego of Stephen Bruner. The South Los Angeles-native has released two critically acclaimed full length albums on Brainfeeder Records since 2011, and last year saw the release of widely praised mini-album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam. The album features appearances from the legendary Herbie Hancock, fellow Brainfeeder family members Kamasi Washington, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Mono/Poly and production work from Brainfeeder head, Flying Lotus. 2015 also saw Thundercat make outstanding contributions to landmark albums by Kamasi Washington (The Epic) and Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp A Butterfly). His work on Lamar’s recently netted him his first Grammy this year.

The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam is available digitally for purchase now via iTunes / Bleep / Boomkat / Ninja Shop. You can also stream it now via Spotify.
