Fans attending night three of U2's epic eight-night run at New York's Madison Square Garden on Wednesday got an extra treat as Jimmy Fallon and The Roots took the stage to perform a medley of "Desire" and "Angel of Harlem" with Bono and band.

Fallon, who was in the audience holding a sign that read "singer with a broken finger," joined the band onstage, joking that he was "afraid of Irish men that fall down and injure themselves," referencing Bono's 2014 biking injury that led the band to cancel several tour dates. After Fallon and crew performed a lively rendition of "Desire" that included a wailing harmonica solo, The Roots joined the musicians onstage to perform "Angel of Harlem," providing bonus entertainment for an audience that included Sir Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys and Nile Rodgers.
