"Forget the Vanessa Carlton you used to know." - NYLON

"...she's also figured out how to layer her vocals in a way that creates harmonies suited for the folk sound she's grown into." - New York Magazine/Vulture
Vanessa Carlton is proud to announce that her much-anticipated NEW studio album, Liberman, will be available October 23, 2015 in North America via Dine Alone Records. A deluxe version of the album will be released the same day featuring a complete collection of Live Living Room Sessions. To celebrate the announcement, Vanessa Carlton unveiled the album artwork, track listing, and premiered her latest track "Willows" as well as a lyric video on USA TODAY, PRESS HERE for more info.
When discussing the album title, which was named after a colorful oil painting by her grandfather whose given name was Liberman, Vanessa says, "The swirly colors of that painting reminded me of the music and the music reminds me of those colors. Then I looked up what Liberman means and it's 'honorable man' and 'my beloved' - all these things that just felt right to me. It's a strong family name that, in a weird way, describes the music to me."
The ten songs on the upcoming album reflect Vanessa's current state of mind since moving from NYC to Nashville, marrying husband John McCauley (Deer Tick) and having a baby girl. The simple instrumentation mixed with her wistful vocals and poignant lyrics bring you into her world and showcase a new side to this accomplished songwriter.
Fans were given a first taste of her new album with the EP Blue Pool, which included tracks "Take It Easy" and "Blue Pool" that will be featured on the upcoming album as well as "Operator (Live Living Room Session)" and "Nothing Where Something Used To Be (Live Living Room Session)" to be featured on the deluxe version. The latest track off of the upcoming album, "Willows," is comprised of ethereal melodies and lush orchestration that showcase Vanessa's haunting sense of positivity.
Carlton also recently signed with Dine Alone Records (City and Colour, Twin Forks, and BRONCHO) joining the independent label's roster of like-minded artists. She introduced her evolved sound to fans with the track "Young Heart" which marked the first new music release for Carlton on her new label.
