Celebrated for his live looping and unique musical textures—and for digitally manipulating electric guitar timbres beyond recognition—David has worked with such luminaries as David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Madonna, John Legend, Laurie Anderson, Tori Amos, Mark Isham, Cliff Martinez, Carter Burwell, Howard Shore, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. His film credits include musical contributions to Traffic, Twilight, Friday Night Lights, Lars and the Real Girl, and The Big Lebowski, among many others. He has also composed game soundtracks and sample libraries under the name Splattercell.

"His latest album, Only Sky, was improvised live in upstate New York’s Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center without an audience present, as well as in his own studio. On David's recent tour, Electronic Musician contributing editor Geary Yelton caught up with him before and after an improvisational house concert in Asheville, North Carolina.
