The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (Lennon Bus), the premier, non-profit 501(c)(3) mobile Pro-Audio, Video and Photo production studio providing hands-on experiences for students of all ages since 1998, comes to New York City for a month-long residency with stops at public schools in each of the five boroughs culminating on Lennon’s birthday, October 9. The announcement is part of the 2015 Lennon Bus Tour, which marks the 75th anniversary of John Lennon’s birth.

The Lennon Bus is made possible by the generosity and support of Yoko Ono Lennon along with who was present when the mobile studio arrived this morning in New York City Hall to kick off the residency. Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful, Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark) and pre-K students from Imagine Early Learning Centers were also in attendance. The bus’ tour of New York is presented by Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation and Baked By Melissa.

“Pre-K ignites a joy for learning in our kids, and nothing reaches them like music. We are so excited to welcome the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus as it opens its doors to hundreds of our students. This is a special partnership, and I can’t think of a more fitting legacy for such a great New Yorker,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“Thank you John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and Yoko Ono for this wonderful gift to the students of New York City,” said NYC Council Education Committee Chairperson Daniel Dromm. “By offering this opportunity to NYC’s school children you are continuing to keep John’s musical legacy of peace and freedom alive for future generations here in NYC and around the world.”

On October 6, 2015 the Lennon Bus will attempt the world record of a giant human peace sign with over 6,000 people in the East Meadow of Central Park in association with the NewYork City Department of Education, New York City Charter Schools and official media partners iHeart Radio & Q104.3. Additional information and pre-registration for the event, which is open to the public, are available now at http://imaginepeace.eventbrite.com. In addition to the peace sign formation, the day will also feature a live musical performance from a winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

“New York was a very special place for John—his adopted home—and I’m so happy that the John Lennon Bus will be there to celebrate his 75th birthday,” says Ono Lennon.

Students onboard the Lennon Bus will receive an exclusive look into the latest in music products, audio, video and broadcast technologies, and hear first hand from the engineers who live and work on board the multi-million dollar networked facility thattravels 10 months a year throughout the U.S. Participants will spend a full day developing an original project, creating the music, video, and images needed to take their ideas from concept to delivery. The Lennon Bus will donate a gear package to one school in each of the five boroughs with four opportunities for on-site gear giveaways during the residency. Each donation will include gear from Audio-Technica, Epiphone, Mackie, OWC (Other WorldComputing), Neutrik, Yamaha and ZVEX Effects.

“It’s an honor to be part of a program that has and will continue to inspire and nurture new generations of musicians and artists,“ said Jonathan Belcher, vice president, Americas Partner Sales, Juniper Networks. “A long-time leader in the industry, Juniper Networks has earned the trust of educational institutions to deliver networks that help them meet their digital learninggoals.
