One of the UK’s leading acoustic foam manufacturers has created a new infographic called “The Sound of Music” which reveals 20 fascinating anecdotes about the accidental and unusual sounds captured in the studio and found on some of the world’s most iconic songs.

For instance:

Did you know that Elvis recorded his vocals to “Heartbreak Hotel” in the studio’s corridor to enhance the atmosphere of the song?

And what about the Guns N’ Roses album “Chinese Democracy” which took 14 years to complete, costing $13 million? The label offered Axl Rose $1 million to deliver the album on time but he missed the deadline by 10 years.

“The Sound of Music” also reveals how some of the most popular artists of the last 60 years have deliberately used unusual techniques to capture and create the sounds on their best-selling recordings.

From Michael Jackson to the Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead and Bowie – they’re all there.

Put together by one of the UK’s leading acoustic foam manufacturers, Technical Foam Services (TFS) hopes this infographic will encourage artists of all ages and abilities to embrace the human element of recording.
