Akai Professional has announced the LPD8 laptop pad controller (Mac/Win) and the LPK25 laptop performance keyboard controller (Mac/Win). Measuring less than 13 inches across and weighing less 1 pound, these USB-MIDI controllers are extremely portable.
The LPD8 has eight blue light-up, Velocity-sensitive pads that can be used to program rhythmic and melodic parts or send program-change information to software. The LPD8 has eight assignable Q-Link knobs that provide hands-on control for assigning software parameters.
The LPK25 is made up of 25 miniature, Velocity-sensitive keyboard keys with synth action. This controller features an arpeggiator that automatically steps through chords, as well as controls for sustain, octave-up and -down and tap tempo.
The controllers do not require software driver installation or wall power for operation. Both the LPD8 and LPK25 have four memory banks for programming and recalling settings appropriate to different software programs used.
Akai expects the LPD8 and the LPK25 to be available in the third quarter of 2009. For more information, please visit www.akaipro.com.
