Produced by Crash Line Productions, Boston Calling will once again deliver 22 live performances this September. As with the festival’s first three editions, September’s lineup was co-curated by Aaron Dessner, the acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of The National. The National is excited to share the stage again with some of the biggest talents and most talked about rising stars of 2014; these include Childish Gambino, Spoon, Girl Talk, The 1975, Twenty One Pilots, Sky Ferreira, Lake Street Dive, who notably originated in Boston, and The War on Drugs to name a few.
"Collaborating on the programming of Boston Calling has been such a great experience for me and I feel we are getting better and better with each edition,” says Dessner, “we were able to book several of my favorite artists in the world for September's lineup, both emerging or relatively new like Lorde, The War on Drugs, Volcano Choir and Future Islands, and long established artists such as The Replacements, Nas, The Roots, Neutral Milk Hotel and Spoon. This lineup is undoubtedly our most exciting one yet and I'm looking forward to returning with The National to play a full headline set with full production for our fans in Boston."
Boston Calling has earned the praise of nearly 70,000 fans between its first editions in May 2013 and September 2013. Glowing reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and The Boston Globe noted everything from its versatile lineup to its quality of production.
Perched on a hill in Downtown Boston and with the city’s skyscrapers encircling its grounds, Boston Calling’s locale at City Hall Plaza offers the ideal urban festival vibe. Producers will enhance this environment with two performance stages, Samuel Adams 30th anniversary celebration, a food pavilion comprised of food trucks and local food vendors, and world-class lighting and design. Boston Calling will also feature a VIP component whereby VIP ticketholders have access to City Hall Courtyard, a 25,000 square foot, second-floor Mezzanine offering prime views of both stages as well as curated menus and amenities. Music fans will be able to choose from 50 dishes and beers, including those from local food trucks.
