Samplescience Player 5GB ROMpler & Endangered Rhythms Loop Pack
The small but prolific audio software and sample library shop Samplescience has bestowed us with two huge giveaways in two weeks’ time. The first and the largest labor of love is a new ROMpler instrument called SampleScience Player. It comes with 200 playable instruments, from acoustic piano to synthesizers, electronic drums to world percussion, orchestral strings to sound effects and more.
SampleScience Player will be able to load and play additional sample libraries formatted for it, similar to the better-known UVI Workstation and Native Instruments Kontakt Player plug-ins. But for now you can download SampleScience Player and its 5GB lossless audio sound library for free.
Then just earlier today, Samplescience hit us with the new Endangered Rhythms collection of 790 acoustic drum loops and 506 electric bass loops originally recorded by John Gump. The 24-bit/48kHz loops come in WAV and REX2 file formats as separate downloads, and Gump labels the files with tempo, time signature and percussion used (drums) or notes played (bass). The acoustic kit drum loops are well recorded and mixed, and to my ears, many of the bass loops had an early ’90s alternative rock sound and feel, often reminiscent of Eric Avery from Jane’s Addiction.
Radical Electronics from Iran Sample Pack
Coming to us from the Ableton blog, Iranian electronic musician Sote (aka Ata Etbekar) provided a collection of samples from the traditional string instruments, the santour and setar, as well as from a Serge modular synthesizer that were used in his avant-electronic track “Holy Error.”
The whole pack contains about 130 WAV files in a 130MB download. For much more on Sote’s background, how he uses Ableton Live and what it’s like to be a contemporary musician in Iran today, read the full article, Sote: Radical Electronics from Iran.
Klutch “Point of Descent” Sample Pack
Here’s a bite-sized chunk of 11 expertly produced bass shots for bass music genres. Gravitas producer Klutch supplied these filthy WAV shots from his recent track “Point of Descent” for Gravitas Create. Awesome sound design from a cool track.
Ghosthack Free FX 2018
Soundware producer Ghosthack returns with a new free sample pack for 2018, focused on the special effects sounds that customers requested. This tight bundle of 35 SFX WAVs mixes it up with impact sounds, risers, reversed sounds and more, suitable for your ambient, atmospheric, transitional, moody, gloomy, and foreboding needs.
Boilerplate disclaimer: Most “free stuff” that we cover here will require you to provide an email address and/or register an account.
