So rather than shout out the occasional gratis goodie in a dedicated post, we’re summing up all the best freebies we’ve heard of this week in a single wrap-up. Ableton-Featured Field Recordings from Lawrence English
Early in the week, Ableton published a feature on artist and label-boss Lawrence English that focused mostly on his practice of field recording, the results of which he relies upon heavily for his music. At the end of the interview, they’ve posted SoundCloud playlist with a dozen downloadable field recordings from the last 10 years of English’s work.

AfroDJMac’s Free Ableton Live Pack #142: Noverture Percussion Sampler
With 142 free Ableton Live Packs, Ableton Certified Trainer AfroDJMac is like some kind of comic-book super hero of musical free stuff. His latest giveaway creation,Noverture Percussion Sampler packages three Ableton Live Instruments together — all three of them made from samples in the Gravitas Recordings Noverture Volume 3 sound pack.

The full Gravitas pack costs $5, but AfroDJMac’s giveaway instruments include the Noverture Tabla Drum Rack (pictured), the Noverture Smash Drum Kit, and the Noverture Coconut Instrument Rack, ostensibly made from coconut kalimba samples. 

Black Octopus 0-Credit Repack for Splice Sounds Subscribers

The sound designers at Black Octopus are offering a 0-credit, 50-sample repackselected from some of its titles that cover futuristic trap, dubstep, classic hip-hop and more. However, this generosity is free only if you are a Splice Sounds subscriber, which does cost $7.99 a month. Of course, you can start free trial to Splice Soundsand workaround that technicality.

Dubspot Sounds V4: Free Sample Pack by Mike Kiraly

New York electronic music production school Dubspot recently turned 10 years old, and the crew has stepped up its content-posting efforts with workshops, interviews articles and more on its website. Of course, we’re really psyched about the recent Dubpost Sounds V4: Free Sample Pack by Mike Kiraly. This 163 MB bundle includes 65 royalty-free 24-bit/44.1 kHz WAVs: 20 chord collages, 30 hybrid kick drums and 15 breakbeats.

Wave Alchemy Free WAV Samples and Sample Packs
As I was checking out an offer for Wave Alchemy’s absolutely massive Complete Drums upgraded sample collection, I noticed that the company’s Free WAV Samples and Sample Pack page has some pretty amazing stuff in it for you to download after you register an email with the site.

The JP8 SFXdownload features 60 transitional tones like ascents, impacts, drones, swooshes, etc. from a pristine vintage Roland Jupiter 8 analog synth. The MS-20 Mini Drums free pack includes almost 500 drum and percussion samples all from a Korg MS-20 Mini and processed externally. DRM Drums delivers 384 samples from a vintage Vermona DRM drum machine. Club Kicks sends you 140 samples of just kick drums, all sourced from coveted Jomox machines. And two “Tape” sample packs each include hundreds of samples recorded from vintage drum machines directly to 1/4” analog tape.
