Was has also ventured into documentary film production by directing I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times, about Beach Boy Brian Wilson, in addition to co-producing an album of the same title. The Motor City Music Conference will be held April 20-24, 2005 in downtown Detroit. MC2 will bring music industry professionals, musicians and music fans together for showcasing, networking, career development, media exposure, promotional opportunities and much more. Over 450 acts from around the world will showcase in 45 Detroit venues over four nights. Artists will be performing from an array of genres including rock, hip-hop, world beat, R&B/soul, electronic/techno, indie, country and the blues. A preliminary talent line up will be posted on the web site by March 21.
Cobo Event Center will house the music and lifestyle tradeshow including over 100 exhibits from indie labels to retailers. Axis Music will hold their “School of Rock” to give guitar, drum and DJ lessons. Saturday of the conference will be “kids day” with a lowered five-dollar entry fee for children ages 17 and under. The conference will feature a demo listening lounge, songwriting and production workshops for artists, as well as all of MC2's industry panel discussions led by well-known artists, label reps, managers, booking agents and radio programmers.
