Jazzmutant has announced version 2 firmware for the Lemur multitouch-screen controller. This firmware update provides better control and intuitive operation, workflow improvements, scripting additions, and more. According to the manufacturer, Ableton Live users will particularly benefit from Lemur's firmware update.
Version 2 offers the following new features: the Breakpoint object, which provides complete control of synthesizer or sampler envelopes with a multisegment envelope editor; the Gesture object that emulates a trackpad control with gesture recognition; Alias capability, which allows you to produce a copy or alias of a controller object that sends the same information to your computer; Tabbed Containers—virtual panels that contain a selection of controls; mouse and keyboard control; and extended scripting abilities, including the ability to modify the physical behavior, appearance, or size of an object in real-time.
The public beta version of the firmware update was launched at the AES Convention, and the full version (free) is set to be released in the last quarter of 2008. For more information, please visit jazzmutant.com.
