WAM is a nonprofit organization that thrives through the generous donations of supporters. Currently, WAM has more demand for training than they can currently meet, so they are raising money to offer more free training classes so they can reach an additional 150-200 girls and young women they haven't been able to serve this year. WAM is looking for supporters to help them reach their fundraising goal of $3,000; a donation of:
$25 provides a pair of headphones for a student in WAM's courses
$50 funds a visit from a guest lecturer
$100 provides one year of training for an under-served middle school girl from a school with a more-than-20% drop out rate
$200 provides a scholarship for a young woman to receive training and earn a WAM's Level One Certification
About Women's Audio Mission: WAM is a San Francisco based, nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of women in music production and the recording arts. In a field where women are chronically under-represented, at less than 5% of the workforce, WAM seeks to "change the face of sound" by providing hands-on training, experience, career counseling and job placement to women and girls in media technology for music, radio, film, television and the internet. WAM believes that women's mastery of music technology and inclusion in the production process will expand the vision and voice of media and popular culture.
