Minnetonka Audio Adds Dolby E to SurCode Family

Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc. (MASI) announces a new addition to the SurCode family with the introduction of SurCode for Dolby E. The SurCode for Dolby E product line will offer Dolby E software decoding and encoding for various platforms.  SurCode for Dolby E Decoder is the first product available for both Pro Tools and Minnetonka AudioTools AWE.  This version will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters tradeshow. The SurCode for Dolby E Encoder products will follow later this year.

Dolby E, as the standard for surround audio using stereo delivery, has grown into a standard exchange format and is therefore also required for non-broadcast facilities. SurCode for Dolby E Decoder is the perfect way to integrate Dolby E into existing workflows. One or more instances of the SurCode for Dolby E Decoder or Encoder on an iLok allow studios to use their Dolby E licenses on different audio workstations, in different studios and in various plug-in or standalone formats.

SurCode for Dolby E Decoder, for Pro Tools (Mac/PC) and Minnetonka AudioTools AWE (Mac), offers the unique ability to decode Dolby E files back to discrete PCM and perform any production work that is required, such as more sophisticated editing than within the Dolby E format, adding additional localized content prior to broadcast and or distribution, or simply re-using assets from another facility. SurCode for Dolby E Decoder provides output and routing control of audio streams on a channel or program basis via a simple user interface. In addition, the user interface provides channel configuration, output metering, and metadata display of both Dolby E streams and individual program material. While the Pro Tools plug-in allows the integrated access to Dolby E files from within the workstation, AudioTools AWE has been designed to offload and automate workflow from the DAW. Both options are part of the same SurCode for Dolby E Decoder license.

"The addition of SurCode for Dolby E to our product line is essential for our broadcast and post customers who need a software based version of this important and required delivery format,” says John Schur, President of MASI. “Adding SurCode for Dolby E continues to strengthen the SurCode family as being the most comprehensive collection of surround sound encoders available in the market today.”

SurCode for Dolby E Decoder retails for $3,195 and is available through MASI's international network of pro audio resellers, and online at www.minnetonkaaudio.com.
