The long-awaited Moogseum, a salute to synth pioneer Dr Bob Moog, is scheduled to open this August in Asheville, North Carolina. The celebration kicks-off with the three-day ‘Moogmentum," which celebrates synthesizer innovation, music and creativity.
Created by The Bob Moog Foundation, the Moogseum will start with eight exhibits, many of which are deemed “interactive, immersive, or technology-driven”. The exhibits will offer visitors the chance to explore both the history of synthesis and the profound effect Dr. Bob Moog had on it.
On August 13, famed Swiss keyboard player, film composer and songwriter Patrick Moraz will give a performance and conversation fromat the Asheville Masonic Temple Theater. Composer, inventor and educator Herb Deutsch, who worked with Dr Moog to create the first Moog synth, will also join in with a conversation and listening party.
On August 14, Moraz and Deutsch will appear at VIP events at the Moogseum and the original Moog synthesizer prototype will go on display. This instrument is on loan from the Henry Ford Museum.
August 15th's grand opening will be celebrated with a sound-sculpting workshop from multi-instrumentalist, composer, modular synthesist and clinician Lisa Bella Donna, followed by a keynote presentation acclaimed synthesist and composer Larry Fast.
