We can always count on the annual Musikmesse show to deliver some surprises from boutique and/or more Eurocentric companies, some cool releases from major manufacturers that were perhaps just not ready for NAMM earlier in the year, and some software announcements that can fall through the cracks if you're not paying attention.
This year, we're really geeked over Pioneer DJ making the hardware performance sampler than no one else has dared to (with Dave Smith analog filters!), a drool-worthy synth and sequencer from small shops Dasz and Polyend and a new software modular synth, experiemental multi-effects plug-in and a virtual surround-sound environment. Plus monitors for the studio and stage, performance pedals, and the Nord Drum gets padded.
