Bachman credits Shea with inspiring him to become a songwriter and mentions Shea in the Guess Who song “Lightfoot.” Shea was a fixture on country star Tommy Hunter’s TV show, backing the host and various guests with intricate fingerpicking and effortless solos. He played guitar and Dobro on Lightfoot’s biggest records, and was a member of his touring band for years. Shea was also a member of the country band Great Speckled Bird, and is remembered for being as funny as he was talented.
