Digidesign's Reference Monitor Series (RMS) is the company's new family of bi-amplified studio reference monitors. The RM1 ($1,249 each) has a 5.5-inch LF driver, and the RM2 ($1,749 each) has a 6.7-inch LF driver. Both monitors include PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology for improved audio resolution, reduced distortion, flat frequency response, and defined bass frequencies. The monitors also feature bass port emulation; a 48-bit, fixed-point DSP engine; drivers powered by an independent, analog-controlled Class D amplifier; and a linear power supply. The RM1 and RM2 will be available in May 2007.

Celebrate Frank Zappa with Eagle Rock Entertainment's "Classic Albums" DVD series, which on May 1, 2007, will spotlight Zappa's Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe(') albums. The 98-minute documentary ($14.98) goes behind the scenes at each album's recording session and includes two complete performances: "Montana" from The Roxy in L.A. in 1973 and "I'm The Slime" from NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live in 1976.

EastWest has announced Zero-G's new Anthem House ($99.95) sample library. Anthem House offers more than 1.4 GB of dance sounds, from euphoric synths to pumping basses. The library includes 37 construction kits, 160 breakbeats and drum loops, and 135 synth loops and pads. Anthem House is available in Acid WAV, AIFF Apple Loops, Stylus RMX, REX2, Kontakt, EXS24, and HALion formats.

Be on the lookout for KRK Systems' new VXT Series studio monitors, the VXT4 ($399), VXT6 ($599), and VXT8 ($799), which will be available in May 2007. The monitors include new proprietary woofers and tweeters, a curved face plate, tamper resistant switch covers, extended low-end and slotted ports for reduced port turbulence, Omni Mount support, limiter and auto mute controls, and more.

MakeMusic, Inc. has released SmartMusic 10.0, a major update to the software, and SmartMusic Impact, a Web-based student grading and records management system that helps organize the posting, grading, submitting, and managing of student assignments and their automatically assessed grades. According to the manufacturer, SmartMusic 10.0 and Impact are designed to help music educators teach and prepare music for school ensembles.
