AraldFX has released Grand Electrix Virtual Piano (Mac; $50 until September 10, 2006, and $79 after that) in AU and VST formats. Grand Electrix uses samples from the Hollow Sun library Definitive CP70 and features stream-from-disk technology that reduces the need for a lot of RAM in sample playback. has announced two new loop collections available in Apple Loop, Acidized WAV, REX2, and ReFill formats: Bandmates Drummer-Jazz Drums ($11.95), and Bandmates Synth Player-Bass Freq ($15.95). Jazz Drums features acoustic drum samples, and Bass Freq offers synthetic bass lines and effects.

BIAS is shipping Peak Pro 5.2 (Mac/Win; $179). This new Universal version does not require a USB key for authorization, and all orders placed today will receive a discounted price.

Blue Sky International is shipping Big Blue System ($7,500), which is comprised of two SAT 12 three-way, tri-amplified mid-field monitors and a SUB 15 Universal 1000-watt subwoofer.

Modartt has announced Pianoteq 1.0 (Mac/Win; $320), piano modeling software in VST and AU formats. According to the manufacturer, Pianoteq is the first true modeled piano; based on mathematical models, Pianoteq simulates the sounds of the acoustic piano and responds in real time to your playing.
